A finance analytics practice built in Singapore
Smartdatafinance was founded in 2026 to do one job well: build and run the numbers layer for companies that have outgrown a heroic spreadsheet and do not yet need a standing analytics department. The practice is based in Raffles Place and works with owner-managed groups and mid-market companies across Singapore, Malaysia and the wider region.
The gap we were set up to close is familiar to anyone who has sat in a late board meeting. The statutory work gets done. The tax filings get done. The management pack arrives after the month can still be steered, the cash forecast cannot be walked to the bank, and margin by outlet or customer is a debate rather than a file. We exist to make that layer timely, reconcilable and documented enough that a finance team can keep it.
Organisation
How the practice is organised
Work is organised by capability, not by named personalities on a website. Reporting covers packs, close calendars and board papers. Forecasting covers the 13-week cash file, the annual budget and the quarterly reforecast. Data engineering covers extracts, warehouse layers and the dashboards that read from them. Commercial analytics covers contribution, pricing and working capital. A piece of work is staffed from the capabilities it needs, and it is reviewed by someone who did not build the first draft.
Review is written into the calendar. A pack is not sent upstairs until a second pair of eyes has walked the control accounts and the commentary. A model is not delivered until a live month, or a named scenario, has been run in front of the client finance lead. Continuity is maintained through the handover file: data map, definitions, refresh steps and a list of known limitations. If the people on an engagement change, the file is the memory. We do not keep methods in an undocumented head.
Place
Where we work
The practice is based at 138 Market Street, CapitaGreen, in Singapore’s Raffles Place district. Client work is carried out across Singapore and Malaysia, and with regional groups that keep a finance lead in the city. We travel when a close walk-through or a handover is better done in the room. The rest of the week is done from the office, on systems the client owns.
Hours
Languages and time zones
Working languages are English and Mandarin. Correspondence and packs are prepared in English unless a proposal says otherwise. We work Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00 Singapore time, and we cover the overlapping hours that a Malaysia or Hong Kong finance team usually needs. Messages received on a working day receive a reply within one working day.
Standards
Standards and limits
Smartdatafinance provides analytics, reporting and modelling services. We do not provide audit, tax, legal or licensed financial advisory services, and nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy or sell any instrument. We do not replace a bookkeeper or a statutory accountant. We do not file returns. When a request crosses that line, we say so and we stop.
Confidentiality is handled by a non-disclosure agreement before we see ledgers or forecasts, and by access through client-owned systems. We are independent of software vendors. We do not take commission for recommending Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP Business One, Power BI or Looker Studio, and we will say when a tool you already own is enough.
